Relax and enjoy your diving experience more when you know where you are going. The PADI Underwater Navigation Speciality course teaches you how to enjoy recognise underwater topography, light sources, currents and depths and using a compass to aid your navigation skills.
Description
The PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course teaches you to fine tune your navigation skills with natural navigation and compass accuracy, allowing you to relax and enjoy the dive more.
If you’re a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 10 years old, you can enroll in the Underwater Navigation Speciality course.
Academic
Along with natural navigation techniques and procedures, you’ll:
- Learn to estimate and measure distance underwater
- Navigate a complex navigation route using a compass
- Use surface navigation to locate a dive site entry point
- Create an underwater map
Get credit! The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.
Equipment
Along with your basic scuba equipment, you’ll learn to use a compass with markers and reels. Ask your PADI Instructor about other equipment you may need to get the most of your underwater navigation dives.
